I believe that design - in all forms - has a huge impact on the world. Regrettably, I also fear that it is underrated by most people. Design is far more than simply 'pretty pictures, reflective surfaces or photoshop gradients'. The design process and mindset constantly help me solve real and important issues in my personal and professional life. It excites me that each new project offers me an opportunity to do things better, more interestingly and more efficiently, every time. There is always a way to do it! The fun is in the challenges and discoveries. Attitude is the key. You must relish the challenge to solve the problem. Lastly, attention to detail is paramount. 'Pixel perfect' may sound a little jargonistic but it describes my mantra that, if you are going to do something, do it to the absolute best of your ability.

When working with clients I want to make the process as smooth as possible for them, while delivering unique & effective solutions. I strive to create a relationship, as a person and collaborator, instead of simply working for a pay cheque. I see one of my most important tasks is to uncover exactly what the customer needs (even if they are unsure of this) and collaborate with them to produce an amazing result.

Having worked in retail for over a decade I know what it takes to create and maintain a successful team. Mutual respect, common goals, shared interests, varying strengths and weaknesses, humility, confidence (shared and individual), passion, ownership, desire (to learn, advance and produce excellence), ‘can-do’ attitude (perseverance) and flexible mindset (allow continued improvement) are just a few essential ingredients.

In almost all areas of my life, I am constantly searching for ways to do things better and more effectively or efficiently. I believe that almost every issue in life can be solved using a design mentality and process. And I want to make a positive difference to this world - not just earn an income. I’m a bit of a greenie but not a militant one - I always want to keep a balanced perspective.

I don’t want to waste the most precious things - time, resources, effort, environment. I love my gadgets and technology but not at the expense of human interaction/relationships or better (proven) analog techniques such as sketching or reading a book.

I want to add positively to this amazing world of ours - not simply take what I can from it. I want to make it a better place for my daughters to grow up and thrive in. I want to be the best parent that I can be and guide/teach my girls to be happy, healthy & productive people throughout their life. I always want to keep learning. And I really want to always work with people who inspire me, and hopefully I can inspired them in return.
